Announcing Tri-Advisory 2019! Back to Yellow Pines Camp Site!

Celebrating 41 Years 1978 – 2019

November 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 2019
Yellow Pines Camp Ground site, Yosemite Park

Yosemite Park Volunteer Department has just invited us back to Yellow Pines Camp Ground for our weekend! As always, we have agreed to assist with a clean-up detail in the Valley on Sunday morning.

Entrance fee: Free with the Gate Pass
Tent camping: Included

Sponsored by the Nordic, Avalanche, and MTR (Mountain Travel & Rescue) programs Tri-Advisory refreshes by hands-on clinics in the outdoors. Clinics and skills in ropes, GPS-maps & compass avalanche beacon and other topics are presented. With so many patrollers of like mind from round the Far West Division gathering a wealth of knowledge is shared amongst all.

Tri-Advisory will also be a registered NSP ICE course for the Avalanche, Nordic, and MTR instructors.

What started out 41 years ago by a handful of like-minded patrollers wanting to tap into each other's collective knowledge, the Tri-Advisory has grown to become a "not-to-miss", key educational conference within the Far West Division of National Ski Patrol.

Yeah-but I am an Alpine patroller ...if you're a patroller interested in the backcountry, wanting to gain new skills but you're unsure where to begin, the Tri-Advisory is a great place to start! First, you'll meet and get to know the key instructors from your region who will mentor you locally ... OK! Next, you'll hear from people who have "been-there, done-that", sharing their experiences and opinions, giving you insight and information on needed knowledge, training, and skills.
Oh-yeah ... You need to be here!

This site proved to be an exceptional venue for the hands-on clinics of avalanche beacon usage, GPS and map & compass navigation work, as well as other topics for the back-country enthusiast.

The Pot-Luck dinner has certainly become a must not miss event! Be sure to bring your Dutch Oven camp cooking and there will be the grills and (Mike St. Clair’s) oven available to warm and bake your dinner contribution. After a big pot-luck style dinner on Saturday evening everyone tent camping will be treated to a very quiet night away from the general camp grounds.

Bring your family and friends. What a great getaway! Spectacular views and short hikes await everyone. This is all in addition to the Tri-Advisory agenda--not to mention Saturday evening's dinner and entertainment. Make your plans now! Fill out the
registration form from and mail to the address on the form with your registration check.

Camping will be at the Group Camp Site located in the Wawona Camp Ground. This site is on the banks of the South Fork Merced River and across the road from the Wawona Hotel and cabin rental is available behind the Hotel in the area of Redwood. Tent camping is only allowed in the Group Site, RV’s may get their own site close by.

RV camping reservations can be made with the Park Service: www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/camping.htm or call (877) 444-6777

Hotel lodging reservations can be made with the new authorized concessionaire, Aramark: www.yosemitepark.com or call 888.413.8869

We are looking forward to a great weekend ... we'll see you there!
